As I had mentioned in my previous post, I use to be rather small. The excess weight gain for me came in play in 2001 when I became pregnant with my first son. I can’t remember exactly how much I had gained during that pregnancy but I think it was between 30 - 40 pounds.
After having him I never completely lost all of the pregnancy weight and in 2004 I had my second son, with his pregnancy I only gained about 11 pounds. I was worried about the little weight gain but was ensured that everything was doing well, so that made me happy.
I lost all that weight after that pregnancy but managed to gain it back and then some, bringing me to a maximum weight of 180. Since I had Gestational Diabetes with my second pregnancy and was borderline during my first, I was told that I would need to be extra careful due to the possibility of an onset of Diabetes later in my life.
I decided to try Weight Watchers to see how that would work for me. Well, I must say that I am very lazy when it comes to counting points and taking the extra effort to cook something for myself.
I tried it for a few weeks and lost a few pounds but it was to hard for me to focus on how many points this was, weighing food, etc.
So,? I called it quits and went back to my quick and easy foods that I could pop into the microwave.

I thought I would start off by telling you a little bit about my history with weight.
For most of my life I was, according to my grandmother and mother “skinny as a rail”. Looking back now and seeing some photos, I would have to agree. Although at the time I though I was just the right weight.
I am 5′4″ and my “skinny as a rail” weight ranged from 110 - 120 pounds from the time I was about sixteen to my early twenties. I could eat anything and as much as I wanted without ever gaining weight. There would be times when I would eat a whole package of Oreos in a day. Oh, the memories.
I was in my best shape when I lived in Alaska for four years and worked as a housekeeper for a large hotel in Fairbanks, Alaska. Anyone that has ever cleaned hotel rooms knows that it is not an easy task and to top it off the hotel I worked at had seven buildings, each had three stories with only stairs as access. We were required to carry sacks on our backs up and down these flights of stairs ALL day long. I felt like Santa Claus at times carrying that sack that seemed to weigh a hundred pounds at the beginning of the day. One sack for clean linen, the other for various hotel room supplies.
In ‘96 I moved back to my home state of New Hampshire with husband, my boyfriend at the time. It was then I started to put on a few pounds, nothing huge, maybe ten pounds in four years.
In my next post I will bring you up to speed to present time and my new journey to lose my goal of forty pounds.

Thanks for stopping by Diet Mamma blog.
Many moms find themselves struggling to lose those extra pounds after having their children and dieting can be a stressful and challenging time for some.
Being a mother and on a diet myself, I thought this blog might help inspire other moms that are thinking about or are changing their eating habits to shred some pounds by offering “real life” insight from “real life” moms that have jumped on the “diet wagon” so to speak.
